Michael L. Renner, Sr., 79, passed away February 26, 2025. He was the husband of Darla M. (Rowe) Renner. Born in York, PA on November 16, 1945, he was the son of the late Theodore and Evelyn (Frey) Renner.
Michael graduated from Central High School in 1964. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Michael was an avid Jets and Penn State football fan. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion 791, NRA, York Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association and the IAFF. He proudly served our country in the United States Army for six years. He retired as a Professional Fire Fighter after twenty years of service in Fire and Rescue for York City Local No. 627. Michael also worked as an EMT, prepared taxes for H&R Block and was a member of the Army National Guard.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife Darla, two children, Chris Renner and wife Jenn and Mike Renner Jr. and wife Bobbi; four grandchildren, Shawn Renner, Sr. and partner La Shonda, Brandon Renner, Kyle Renner and Evelynn Renner; four great grandchildren, Shawn Renner, Jr., Xander Renner, Chase Renner and Maddison Hibbard; sister, Deb Renner Garbrick; and a host of cousins, friends and loved ones.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. 822 E. Market Street, York, Pa 17403. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. March 6, 2025. Honors will be performed by the York Professional Fire Fighters Association Honor Guard. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery March 13, 2025 at 12:30 p.m.
