June Helen Hunter transitioned into the presence of God through Jesus Christ on May 12, 2022. She was the eldest child of the late Ella Mae Beatty Sims and William A. Owens Sr.
June was affectionately known as either Ms. June, Mom, Aunt June, Cousin June, or Nanny. She could stretch a dollar like no other and always made a fashionable entrance to any event. She was an honest woman who felt deeply and although she is gone, she will never be forgotten.
June is preceded in death by her eldest son, Dwight A. Hunter Sr, a brother, Vincent “Chink” Bowens, and both her parents, Ella Mae and William.
Her familial legacy she leaves behind consists of her two sons- Brian T. Hunter Sr and Blair G. Hunter, daughters-in-law- Debra Hunter, Rebecca Hunter, Tammy McNair, grandchildren- Dwight A. Hunter Jr, Timothy Hunter, Justin Hunter, Jamar Dickson, Dhelaysa (Hunter) Haskins, Laprecia Hunter, Elijha Hunter, Rebekah Brianne (Hunter) Jackson, Jeremiha Hunter Sr, Xzavier Hunter Sr, Brian Hunter Jr, along with many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and extended family members. She will also be missed dearly by sister, Sharon (Sherry) Owens Walton, brothers, William (Billy) Owens, Richard (Richie) Holmes, C. Stephon Sims. June will also be remembered by best and lifelong friends- Gladys (Gatz) and Charles (Lou) Hunter.
The Home Going Service will be at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday May 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
