Joan M. Runkle, 75, passed away unexpectedly October 24, 2022. She was the loving wife of Theodore "Ted" Runkle. Born in York, Pa on December 6, 1946, she was the daughter of the late David and Margurite (Keefer) Grapes. She was a graduate of York Catholic.
Joan loved doing taxes and did so for over forty years with H&R Block. After retiring from H&R Block, she branched out with her own tax business. She enjoyed crocheting and traveling with her husband, especially during the fall when the leaves are so beautiful. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joan leaves to cherish her memory, in addition to her husband Ted, nephew Jeff Runkle who was like a son to her and his wife Kim; five brother in laws, Joe Runkle, Jesse Runkle, Charles Runkle, Kenneth Runkle and Michael Runkle, Sr.; two sister in laws, Judy Buhrman and Dorothy Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Runkle; in laws, Elmer and Christina Runkle; two brother in laws, David Runkle, Jr. and Edward Runkle; and aunt and uncle Cal and Charlotte Keefer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Osmany Espinosa officiating at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. A visitation will be held prior from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held at Zion View Community Center following the service.
