Dale Eugene Greenholt, 68, of York, Pennsylvania, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025 at York Hospital following a brief illness.
Dale was a 1975 graduate of York Vo-Tech from the Building Maintenance program. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1975. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He was then stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois, followed by Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. Dale served the USAF overseas at bases in Turkey and Germany. He proudly served his country for 13 years before being Honorably Discharged. He then worked for the former Fred Greg Buick as a mechanic. He also worked at the New Cumberland Army Depot for many years. He was currently employed by Advanced Auto as a parts delivery person.
Dale was an avid music lover, playing many instruments, including organ, keyboard, and guitar. He played in many bands over the years. Dale enjoyed watching and attending races, including Nascar and Sprint with his friend Jerry. Dale was a member of the F&AM, Blue Lodge #706 of York. He enjoyed vacationing and traveling with family and friends. Dale had a hearty laugh, a genuine smile, and a willingness to help all those in need. He was a hard worker and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Dale is survived by his mother, Norma Y. Greenholt of York, daughter, Katy Kane (Erin) of Philadelphia, siblings, Donna Brown (Don) of Texas, Debra Mather (Kevin), of York, Don Greenholt of Red Lion, Dawn Myers of Red Lion, and Diane Gillette of Texas. Nieces and Nephews, Donna (Robert), JB (Etsuko), Bradley (Pearl), Rebecca (Michael), Sarah (Steve), Ashlee (Shawn), and Bryan (Angel). He is also survived by many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Bonnie. He was preceded in death by father, LaMar Greenholt, son, Jason Greenholt, and nephew, Andrew Myers.
There will be a viewing Friday, March 28, 2025 from 4-6pm at Gladfelter Funeral Home, then a short service with military honors being bestowed, followed by cremation. Gladfelter Funeral Home, 822 E. Market St.
York has been entrusted with these arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA and/or a local music program of your choosing.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Tower 2 at the York Hospital for their dedication and hard work during Dale’s brief stay.
